The Predator Strikes In New Action Shot From Shane Black’s Reboot

The hunters become the hunted in this all-new action shot from Shane Black's The Predator, which comes to us by way of Empire Magazine.

Proving Ant-Man and the Wasp isn’t the only movie to be featured in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, a new action shot from The Predator has escaped confinement. And things get a little hairy for Boyd Holbrook’s Special Forces commando, Quinn McKenna.

First spotted by the folks over at AvP Galaxy, below you’ll see one of those ugly motherfuckers extra-terrestrials hoist McKenna into the air, presumably just before he’s saved by an off-screen ally or some last-minute heroics on his part. And that’s Predators plural, as we know Shane Black’s long-in-development reboot features more than one alien nasty.

It also shifts the action from the jungle to suburbia, where a young autistic boy (Room breakout Jacob Tremblay) becomes one of the only hopes standing between the Predators and mass extinction. He’s able to decipher the ancient Yautja language, you see, which ought to come in pretty handy once the shit inevitably begins hurling toward the fan. Exhibit A:

Among the cast list for this one are Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Black Panther‘s Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen of Game of Thrones fame and Yvonne Strahovski. Meanwhile, Jake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s character from Predator 2, proving Shane Black was still able to sprinkle some nostalgia over his R-rated reboot.

And make no mistake, with its deft balance of practical and visual effects, not to mention the amount of craft that’s gone into each Predator design, this is an authentic reboot/sequel to the original cult classic, one that we’ve been waiting for for a very, very long time.

Look for The Predator to strike on September 14th.
