The sizzling sequel to one of Netflix’s biggest-ever movies makes a move on #1 in 40 countries

And there's a high chance you didn't even notice.

The majority of Netflix projects that get a self-congratulatory pat on the back for performing so well among viewers generally tend to be the ones that cost the most to produce, which is fairly self-explanatory when the streaming service isn’t immune from a high-profile flop or two. However, Through My Window: Across the Sea is looking to emulate the success of its predecessor, which ended up as one of the platform’s most-watched movies ever.

The opening installment dropped in February of last year, and while it was every bit the tepid romance between star-crossed lovers that you’d imagine it to be, Through My Window was an absolute monster. Hoovering up hours like it was nobody’s business, director Marçal Forés’s formulaic frolic ended up as the seventh top-viewed non-English film in Netflix’s history.

Naturally, a second chapter was almost instantly placed into development, and the rewards are already being reaped after FlixPatrol outed Across the Sea as having debuted in second position on the worldwide watch-list by virtue of a Top 10 placing in 87 countries around the world, with only Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 2 ahead of it on the charts.

This time around, Julio Peña’s Ares has relocated across Europe to study in Stockholm, transforming his relationship with Clara Galle’s Raquel into a long-distance deal. Can they make it work? Well, seeing as threequel Through My Window: Looking At You was announced at last weekend’s TUDUM event, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that they can, which surely doesn’t qualify as a spoiler.
