Is Wonder Woman 3 alive or dead? Maybe James Gunn doesn’t know, fans definitely don’t know, and Gal Gadot can’t seem to make her mind up, either.
It was only a few days ago that the actress offered a lengthy response on what her immediate career plans are after the pause button was hit on Diana Prince’s third solo outing following the departure of director Patty Jenkins over creative differences, but she’s been changing her tune already.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the DCU veteran was a lot less vague when revealing that things are always happening behind the scenes, although the recent box office performance of Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash has been making it perfectly clear that audiences simply don’t seem to be all that interested anymore.
“Things are being worked behind the scenes, and once the right moment arrives, you’ll know about it.”
The chances are slim, to put it lightly, especially when it’s becoming clearer by the minute that the old DCU is as close to dead as it can possibly get, which doesn’t bode all that well for the incoming duo of Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As popular as Gadot has proven to be as the character – not to mention the fact prequel series Paradise Lost is in the works for streaming – it can’t be ruled out that Wonder Woman 3 may yet rise from the ashes.
On the other side of the coin, a clean break from the past is the best course of action based on the diminishing returns, meaning the situation hasn’t become any clearer.
