Starring Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Irvine and Leanne Best as the titular, vengeful spirit, the follow-up will take place a full forty years after the events of the first film, thrusting the story into the midst of World War II. Now, Eel Marsh House is standing as a temporary bomb shelter for those who have fled the cities, placing Irvine’s pilot front and center as he tries to rescue the residents from the malevolent ghost that stalks the dark and dingy halls.

Two years ago, The Woman in Black proved to be a financial hit and shepherded Daniel Radcliffe out of the looming shadow of Hogwarts with relative ease. How its sequel will fare without Radcliffe’s involvement remains to be seen, but early signs for Angel of Death have promised a true supernatural treat. We’ll just have to wait until 2015 if that is indeed the case.

The Woman in Black: Angel of Death will loom into theaters on January 2nd, 2015. For now, sate your appetite with the eerie new trailer above and poster below.

The Woman in Black: Angel of Death

During the London bombings of World War II, school teachers Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox) and Jean Hogg (Helen McCrory) lead a group of children in evacuation to Crythin Gifford, a remote village outside of the city. When the group takes up residence at the Eel Marsh House, 40 years after Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) investigated the first haunting, Eve soon realizes they are not alone. The longer they stay in the house, the more the awful past of the residence unravels itself and the evil spirit that lurks around them threatens the well-being of the children. With the help of a pilot (Jeremy Irvine), Eve does all that she can to protect the children and discover the truth behind the Woman in Black.
