Yesterday marked the last day of filming on Marvel’s upcoming threequel, Thor: Ragnarok, and the movie’s director, Taika Waititi, shared a video from the production’s final shooting location via Facebook Live. At first glance it doesn’t appear to be particularly revealing, but there are actually quite a few intriguing tidbits for fans as the footage progresses.
Waititi refers to the location as a “sci-fi space wasteland,” and some costumed extras known as “junkers” are also introduced. We know Thor will be visiting various other realms and planets in this movie, so it’s safe to assume this is one of his pit-stops.
[zergpaid]Speaking of The God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth accompanies Waititi on his little jaunt about halfway through, and the pair share some amusing banter. Plus, Tessa Thompson (Creed) shows up in her Valkyrie face-paint. Though she’s not in costume, this is still our first proper indication of how the actress is going to look as the Asgardian warrior.
Perhaps most interesting, however, is a certain character that’s name-dropped by the director: Meik. This insectoid from the planet Sakaar fought alongside The Hulk in the Planet Hulk comic, and became one of his Warbound upon the Green Goliath’s return to earth in World War Hulk. It’s not clear how much of a role Meik will play in the movie, but even if he only makes a cameo it’s still a cool little nod to the popular storyline.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
