The first two films in the franchise didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, but there’s clearly a lot more interest in the threequel. How do we know that? Well, because the first trailer for the movie has generated over 136 million views in 24 hours. That makes it not only the most viewed Marvel trailer of all-time, but Disney’s highest as well, which means that the threequel just beat everything from Star Wars to Pixar. That’s one heck of a feat and is damn impressive when you consider Thor: Ragnarok has topped Beauty and the Beast‘s 127.6 million views in its first 24 hours and previous Marvel record holder Captain America: Civil War, which had 94 million views in total.

It’s worth noting that Ragnarok doesn’t hold the all-time record when it comes to this type of thing, though. That actually goes to It‘s 197 million views, while The Fate of the Furious was watched 139 million times. Still, there’s no getting around how impressive this is, especially if it translates into box office receipts. If nothing else, the suits at Marvel must be pretty happy right about now.

As far as trailers go, the preview did a great job of selling a very unique looking movie and featured first looks at both Cate Blanchett’s Hela and the Hulk taking on the God of Thunder in a gladiatorial arena, two moments which no doubt helped it achieve such a tremendous record. Quite frankly, it’s one of the best trailers we’ve had all year and has us very eager to see more of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok when it descends into theatres this November.
