Avengers: Endgame Director Says Thor Was Stronger Than He’s Ever Been In The Movie

Thor Odinson endured quite the journey from Thor: Ragnarok to the opening moments of Avengers: Endgame.

This is, after all, a character who lost his nearest and dearest (Odin, Loki, Heimdall), only to watch Asgard be torn asunder by his villainous sister, Hela. To make matters worse, he also failed to kill Thanos when he had the chance, opting for the chest instead of going for the head. And so, Thor, God of Thunder and former prince of Asgard, slips into depression, utterly consumed by rage and guilt.

It’s not until he crosses paths with his mother during the throes of Endgame that Thor is able to get back on track, ultimately wielding both Mjnolir and Stormbreaker as part of the three-way assault on Thanos. All of this results in the strongest version of Thor we’ve ever seen, as Anthony Russo told Reddit users as part of last night’s exhaustive AMA.

The difficult road that Thor’s traveled ultimately gave him strength. He was stronger than ever by the end of Endgame.

Call him Thicc Thor, or Bro Thor, or even Viking Thor, but one thing’s immediately clear: the God of Thunder that we glimpsed by the finale of Avengers: Endgame was a certified powerhouse, which certainly bodes well for the Asguardians of the Galaxy and the hotly-anticipated Love and Thunder.

After seeding control of Asgard (or what’s left of it) to Valkyrie, Thor Odinson climbs aboard the Milano and prepares for a new mission to the cosmos, presumably setting the stage of Vol. 3 of the Guardians franchise. So long as he’s given more screen time together with Rocket Racoon, we’ll be there on day one.

Closer to home, Avengers: Endgame has graced Digital HD in North America, with a Blu-ray release expected to follow next week. Those in the UK though will have to wait a little bit longer before taking home the biggest cinematic event ever created.
