Adam Shankman’s new film Rock of Ages looks to be a fun, nostalgic musical. Featuring covers of songs originally sang by Bon Jovi, Journey, and many others, the film looks to have a wide appeal due to its story, music and all-star cast.

The second trailer has been released today and though it doesn’t pose the same excitement as seeing the first trailer for the first time did, it still makes the film look like a fun romp. From what we can see here, it looks like Shankman has put together a very fun ’80s atmosphere and some of the film’s big personalities look like they’re going to be very entertaining, especially Cruise’s Stacee Jaxx. Furthermore, judging by the footage in the trailer, it looks like Cruise can actually belt out some notes, who knew? Stilted dialogue and lame comedy aside, I think the film can offer up just enough fun to make it worth the price of admission.

Rock of Ages tells the story of “small town girl Sherrie (Julianne Hough) and city boy Drew (Diego Boneta), who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.”

Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Rock of Ages will roll into theaters nationwide on June 15, 2012 and it stars Cruise alongside Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston and Alec Baldwin.
