Sully stars Oscar winner Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and revolves around events which took place on January 15, 2009, the day the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

The movie also stars Aaron Eckhart as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Laura Linney as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger. The screenplay was written by Todd Komarnicki and is based on the book Sully: My Search For What Really Matters by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.

Set to be released on September 9th, Sully could very well be an Oscar favourite, especially with Eastwood at the helm. Whether or not it will be remains to be seen, but the movie will still no doubt make for an enjoyable watch, especially with the always great Hanks leading the way.
