In what is shaping up to be a very, very busy week in the Marvel camp, Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland has ‘accidentally’ shared the official poster for Avengers: Infinity War.

Arriving in tandem with the sequel’s tantalizing trailer tease, which chronicled the MCU and its rich 10-year history, this rather minimalist one-sheet comes to us via Tom Holland’s personal Instagram account, after the young Brit hosted a live video to unbox the Infinity War poster in front of thousands of wanting fans.

As the newest and indeed youngest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the 21-year-old Holland opens up a whole new audience for Marvel to appease, and we can’t think of a better way to generate excitement for Avengers: Infinity War than a self-referential Instagram live video.

Because let’s face it, aside from maybe Star Wars, Marvel’s strict policy on spoilers and leaks is the stuff of legend, and one need only look to Thor: Ragnarok and Mark Ruffalo’s Instagram blunder – the Bruce Banner actor accidentally streamed the opening 10 minutes or Ragnarok while attending an early screening – as evidence of that. Perhaps it’s best to leave Instagram to the kids, eh? In all seriousness, though, here’s that official poster:

If the Avengers: Infinity War one-sheet looks familiar, it should; both Avengers and its divisive sequel Age of Ultron came bearing similar posters, with the over-sized A looming large. But whereas Avengers was more concerned with assembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Age of Ultron pit those same costumed crusaders against a mechanized threat, Infinity War expands into cosmic territory, as the likes of Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy all begin to file under the one narrative umbrella.

Because when the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and Thanos begins to enact his overarching masterplan, the Avengers will need to call for some backup. Thankfully, with more than 35 characters populating the Infinity War roster, Joe and Anthony Russo’s sequel will be bringing the big guns when it arrives on May 4th, 2018.
