On screen, high school student Peter Parker is the newbie of the Avengers, and that’s how it is behind the scenes, too. Tom Holland has been thrust into the limelight in the past few years thanks to becoming the latest actor to embody Spider-Man. It must have been useful to have so many seasoned pro superheroes around him to ask for advice, then. But which of his fellow Avengers gave the best tips?
That’s the question the Avengers: Infinity War actor was posed during an interview with European site Kinowetter. At first he mentioned Spidey’s own mentor Robert Downey Jr., but quickly realized that another co-star had given him some even more indispensable guidance when he was much younger.
“It would have to be RD–wait, actually, you know what? Hemsworth gave me some pretty good advice. He gave me some pretty good advice when I was really young. We made a film together [In the Heart of the Sea], years and years and years ago, [and he gave me advice] about work ethic and he’s someone who works really, really hard. He’s a great guy to get advice from.”
From what we’ve heard the past, Hemsworth did much more than just give Holland some helpful advice. Because they knew each other through their time on In the Heart of the Sea, Holland asked the Thor star to put a good word in for him with the producers at Marvel Studios, which no doubt played some part in the young actor being cast as Spider-Man.
As for that advice, it seems that Holland has taken on board Hemsworth’s words of wisdom about work ethic as the star is becoming one of the most in-demand Marvel actors. Infinity War marks his third film in the MCU in three years, following 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming. 2019 will make it four in a row with Avengers 4 and then – guess what? – Holland will star in a fifth movie come 2020 when Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 arrives.
Next up, though, Avengers: Infinity War sees Tom Holland become an official member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes when it hits cinemas on April 27th.
