Since walking the boards for the Billy Elliot Broadway musical, Tom Holland has displayed a knack for the acrobatic. It’s something that the actor, a trained dancer, honed as he made the jump to the silver screen, getting his foot in the door via roles in The Impossible and In the Heart of the Sea.
But it wasn’t until Holland saw off competition to land the role of Spider-Man that those skills were given their time in the spotlight. Performing much, if not all of his stunts on Captain America: Civil War, the up-and-comer is currently hard at work on Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the latest set video to emerge showcases Holland executing a fairly remarkable stunt all on his lonesome.
Nimble, confident and professionally trained, it’s small wonder why Tom Holland was considered a shoo-in for the role of Peter Parker. Don’t expect to see any actual footage included in the snippet below, but as a behind-the-scenes teaser, this is a fairly exciting peek into what our new Spider-Man is capable off – and that’s before CGI and VFX work is used to amplify a scene.
Bringing a physicality to the title role that we arguably haven’t seen before, Holland’s impressive athleticism coupled with the actor’s charisma has led Anthony Russo to believe that Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming has all the potential to be the best Spidey movie to date. It’ll land in theaters on July 7, 2017, when Tom Holland will be leading a truly all-star cast.
