Spider-Man‘s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War was a triumph, but the wall-crawler had only a minor cameo in the grand scheme of things. Fans are obviously hoping he’ll have a larger role to play in Avengers: Infinity War then, and based on new comments from Tom Holland, he definitely will.
With members of both the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy set to appear in the upcoming blockbuster, it’s hard to imagine any one character getting a huge amount of screen time, but Peter Parker is clearly going to get a chance to shine alongside a variety of other heroes in the highly anticipated 2018 release.
Here’s what Holland had to say when asked about how the shoot for Infinity War is going:
“It’s been crazy, man. It’s been a really, really surreal experience. When I did Civil War, I only worked with Chris and Robert very briefly. Everyone else was sort of like, I was acting with a tennis ball or all this sort of stuff. I saw everyone, but I never got to work with them. For this now, I’m in a situation where I’m on set with all these guys doing scenes, fighting bad guys. It’s been a real whirlwind. It’s been a lot of fun.”
The actor’s comments here point to Spidey getting to spend a lot of time with the Avengers as they battle whoever or whatever end up being Thanos’ henchmen, and it’ll definitely be fun seeing the iconic Marvel character fighting alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. After all, that’s where he belongs.
Not a lot is known about Avengers: Infinity War at the moment – despite some intriguing clues in recent set photos – but the fact that Spider-Man is going to be swinging into action for more than just a glorified cameo gives us yet another reason to be excited ahead of the film’s release next May.
