Bringing an end to that radio silence today is an all-new featurette for Fast 8, which is at once a history lesson on the Fast and Furious franchise and an exciting tease of what’s to come. Family continues to be the glue that holds the Toretto crew together, you’ll be pleased to know, but the arrival of Charlize Theron’s icy adversary Cipher threatens to put that bond to the sword, and here we see her ruffling the feathers of Dominic Toretto and his fellow petrolheads.

Championed as “the fastest and most furious ride yet,” the snippet above also contains some behind-the-scenes footage for the 2017 sequel, allowing you to get but a taste of how Fast 8 takes the franchise’s signature action to a new level entirely. Smashing a supercar through two skyscrapers is so 2015. Last and certainly not least, this featurette is surely a primer for the first Fast 8 teaser trailer, so stay tuned for more on that front.

Vin Diesel and co. will continue to live their lives a quarter mile at a time when Fast 8 screeches into theaters on April 14, 2017. It marks the beginning of a new and seemingly final trilogy at Universal, with both Fast and Furious 9 and Fast and Furious 10 earmarked for 2018 and 2020, respectively. Joining Diesel for the next chapter are Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Suicide Squad‘s Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju and Helen Mirren.
