Disney and Pixar may have kicked the hornet’s nest when the esteemed pair announced plans for a Toy Story 4 late last year, particularly given the conclusive ending of its animated predecessor, though slowly – bit by bit – the studios are beginning stoke the embers of excitement for the latest installment in the beloved series.
With Tim Allen, Tom Hanks on board, and now Don Rickles set to reprise his role as the grouchy, wholly loveable Mr. Potato Head, the pieces are beginning to fall into place on Pixar’s sequel, which is being written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Now, we have the first inkling of Toy Story 4‘s plot. With the Andy arc all but wrapped up, Good Morning America hints that the follow-up will focus on the love story between Woody and Bo Peep.
The storyline for ‘Toy Story 4’ will be a love story and centered around Woody and Bo Peep! #D23#D23Expopic.twitter.com/5yKyplo1PF

It’s certainly an interesting angle to take, considering that Bo Peep was completely absent from Toy Story 3, mentioned only in passing by Rex and Woody. Moreover, this is a character that has only really served as a fleeting love interest for Woody, popping up intermittently throughout the course of the first two films. Now, it appears Pixar is ready to give Annie Potts’ toy the screentime she deserves, and we’re intrigued to see how the pair’s dynamic pans out across a full feature film.
Pixar is set to host a presentation later today at Disney’s annual D23 event, so expect more news pertaining to Toy Story 4 to hit the web sooner rather than later.
For better or worse, Toy Story 4 will release in theaters on June 16, 2017. Only then will we know if Pixar’s prestigious brain trust has mustered up a story worth telling.
