Chris Evans may be most well known for his role as the first Avenger, Captain America, but before he appears in the red, white and blue suit again, he’ll be playing a lawyer in the upcoming film Puncture.

The legal drama revolves around Evans’ character who is a drug addicted lawyer that gets caught up in a case involving a nurse who was infected with AIDS due to a needle stick accident.

While it’s no doubt trying to ride on the coat-tails of Captain America, Puncture actually looks like it can stand on its own. Evans looks particularly good in it and the trailer has the film coming off as quite intense and intriguing, but that’s partly due to the Requiem For A Dream-esque music. It’s also based on a true story, which always makes things more interesting, right?

I always enjoy a good legal thriller and Puncture looks like it’s right up my alley. After the somewhat mediocre Lincoln Lawyer, I need a good lawyer film to fill the void and this may just be that film.

Set for release on September 23, 2011, the film is directed by Adam Kassen and Mark Kassen. Co-stars include Mark Kassen, Brett Cullen and Marshall Bell.

When Mike Wiess (Evans), a young brilliant eccentric lawyer, comes across a nurse who was infected with AIDS as a result of a needle stick accident, he convinces his partner to risk everything to take on a case that could potentially put them out of business. They quickly learn that a man has invented a needle called Safety Point that could put an end to hundreds of thousands of needle stick accidents that take place in hospitals every year. While doctors and nurses are begging for the Safety Point needle, a large medical supply corporation has secretly monopolized the Group Purchasing Organizations making it impossible for Safety Point to make its way into hospitals and around the world. The enormity of this global conspiracy quickly puts a strain on the partners which could potentially end their business and their friendship. Complicating the situation even further is Mike’s long time battle with drugs. As Mike struggles to overcome his inner demons, there is no telling how far the medical supply corporation will go to ensure that the Safety Point needle never sees the light of day.
