Following the debut of two new character posters, Yahoo! Movies has debuted the trailer for director Seth Gordon’s latest comedy, Identity Thief along with a couple of new images.

In the trailer, we see Jason Bateman (of Arrested Development fame) playing Sandy Bigelow Patterson, a straight-laced account rep who has a week to travel cross-country and hunt down a con artist formerly known as Diana who stole his identity, played by Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids).

I love the chemistry between Bateman and McCarthy that is displayed in the trailer, so I’m already looking forward to this one. Jason Bateman has great comedic timing and McCarthy, along with being naturally funny, has one heck of a knack for physical comedy. So, seeing these two characters go head to head should make for a great time.

Also, as I’ve mentioned before, I really like what Bateman and director Seth Gordon did with Horrible Bosses, so the fact that they are teaming up again is pretty exciting.

Check out the trailer, plot summary and new images below and let us know what you think in the comments.

The official synopsis is as follows:

Horrible Bosses’ Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy lead the cast of Identity Thief, an all-star comedy in which a regular guy is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he’ll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho and Eric Stonestreet also star in the film, which releases on February 8th, 2013.
