Here’s the first trailer for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to 2008’s remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson. The film follows Johnson, Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Luis Guzman, as they attempt to find Sean’s (Hutcherson) grandfather – who is being played by Michael Caine – on “the mysterious island.”
Honestly, the trailer makes it look like Journey 2 is going to be just about as good as Journey 1, which is okay, because between the talented cast and special effects, Journey 1 wasn’t all that bad. Plus, Journey 2 has the obvious appeal of icon Michael Caine, who’s slumming it in Journey 2 as some kind of crazy, thrill-seeking explorer.
I’m completely on board for this film due to an unrequited love of Josh Hutcherson and a mild admiration of Dwayne Johnson. Plus, there are adorable, baby CGI elephants in the trailer for Journey 2. Who doesn’t love a baby pachyderm?
