Trailer For Machine Gun Preacher

Gerard Butler is well known for playing the tough guy. Whether it’s in 300, Law Abiding Citizen, RocknRolla or Gamer, he’s no stranger to guns, explosions and lots of action. His new film has him playing the tough guy again, but there’s something a little different about this one.

The first trailer for the upcoming action drama Machine Gun Preacher has just hit the Internet. Starring Butler, Michelle Monaghan and Michael Shannon, the movie tells the true story of Sam Childers (portrayed by Butler), a former drug-dealing tough guy turned preacher for Sudanese children who are forced to become soldiers.

Directed by Marc Forster (Monster’s Ball), the film has already been garnering some Oscar buzz, primarily for Butler. Though Butler’s recent action films have been serving as mindless entertainment, this one looks to have a little bit more of a soul to it.

Machine Gun Preacher will make its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before being released on September 23rd. Check out the trailer below.
