First Trailer For Runner Runner

Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake are both in the process of legitimizing themselves as actors. Affleck because of some dreadful films in the early 2000s, and Timberlake since many still think he's a singer who doesn't have any business acting. So it only makes sense that the two would team up and continue their journey together, which they're doing with this fall's Runner Runner.

Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake are both in the process of legitimizing themselves as actors. Affleck because of some dreadful films in the early 2000s, and Timberlake since many still think he’s a singer who doesn’t have any business acting. So it only makes sense that the two would team up and continue their journey together, which they’re doing with this fall’s Runner Runner.

The Brad Furman film stars Timberlake as a brilliant Princeton student who feels he was cheated by an online poker company. He hunts down the corrupt site owner (Affleck), but ends up being brought into the company and made a right-hand man of sorts.

This trailer is pretty intriguing. We get to see a lot of Timberlake in the first half, then when Affleck is brought into the picture he really shines. It’s not too often that we get to see Affleck play a villain, and the possibility is very exciting. I mean he feeds people to crocodiles, how can that not be awesome?

Personally, I enjoy both the leads as actors. On the whole, people have been far too hard on Affleck who, despite some very bad films, is still one of the most enjoyable actors to watch. Timberlake has proven that he’s in Hollywood to stay, and this film should only serve to further cement his position as a quality actor.

Unfortunately, the trailer comes from Entertainment Tonight, meaning we have to repeatedly listen to some guy speak over the footage. Still, it’s nice to see the first glimpse of the film, and hopefully a clean trailer hits the web soon.

The film also stars Gemma Arterton, Anthony Mackie and Ben Schwartz. Look for it in theaters September 27, 2013.
