‘Transformers’ fans have plenty to say about Pete Davidson’s ‘Rise of the Beasts’ role

He's on the look-out for any single Transformers he can romance.

Fans were able to hear a few snippets of Pete Davidson as Transformer character Mirage during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and it seems as though the SNL vet has earned their approval.

During the big game spot viewers were treated to a glimpse of the franchise’s upcoming movie with the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts x Porsche trailer. We get to see clips from the movie focusing on Mirage, an Autobot that transforms into a Porsche 911 and is also voiced by Davidson.

It seems some fans weren’t too pleased upon initially learning of Davidson’s involvement in the film. Understandable as these are beloved characters who we’d love to see done justice on the big screen. However, after hearing him in the role, many have changed their minds, or at least decided to give Davidson the benefit of the doubt for now.

With that being said, some still aren’t sold on the comedian being in the movie, with just as many baffled at the choice to include him in the cast. Others made jokes about the actor’s propensity to date every available woman in Hollywood.

Mirage actually appeared in Transformers: Dark of the Moon although his design was different and he wasn’t voiced by Davidson. The character looks to have a much larger role this time around; judging by the trailer, the Autobot looks like he could be a companion to Noah (Anthony Ramos), similar to what Bumblebee was to Sam in the first Transformers. It’s quite a big role so it’s no wonder fans are worried about Davidson playing the character.

Regardless, it seems the overall buzz surrounding the Davidson’s role in the movie is positive and many are excited to see the film.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives in theaters June 9th 2023.
