Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is filled with plenty of stunts and action-packed scenes that are more intense than ever before. And to showcase the amount of work done to make this film as crazy as possible, a behind-the-scenes featurette was shared on social media just a day before the DVD release.
Collider shared a behind-the-scenes video about the production and planning of the action scene in the mountains. Visual effects supervisor Gary Brozenich said that he and his team had to produce a choreography that takes advantage of not only the environment but also the switch-back nature of the Transformers robots.
He also spoke about the challenges of this shoot, how it was done on the mountain where it was hard to breathe, and how it was potentially dangerous for the stunt drivers who recreated some of the scenes that could only be described as hazardous.
It makes sense why much planning was made to make this scene possible. The Transformers franchise is known for its heavy action and huge battles against robots. Unlike earlier installments, where most combats happen in the city or wide-open spaces, this one was set on a high-altitude mountain with actual dangers and limitations on what can be done with a human team.
Re-recording mixer, Ron Bartlett, spoke with WeGotThisCovered and revealed many instances that happened when it came to mixing the “bigger or splashier” scenes. He stated that things changed constantly, especially when it came to the score, and that the sounds should just be more than just “banging and clashing,” or else the audience would get bored.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the seventh installment in the franchise and takes place after the events of 2018’s Bumblebee movie. The film stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Peter Cullen, Peter Dinklage, Pete Davidson, and Michelle Yeoh. If you want to see more behind-the-scenes content for this film, it will be available for purchase on July 11 and will soon be available to stream on Paramount Plus.
