With another day comes more awards. The Tree Of Life and Take Shelter are the major winners from the Toronto Film Critics Association awards with The Tree Of Life being named Best Picture and Terrence Malick being named Best Director. While Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain swept the acting category for Take Shelter, with Best Leading Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

Michelle Williams and Christopher Plummer won the other two acting categories with Best Actress for My Week With Marilyn and Best Supporting Actor for The Beginners, which comes as no surprise.

It seems right now that the leading acting categories seem to be open a little with Michelle Williams being a strong favourite, and her biggest competition seeming to be Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady.

As for Best Leading Actor, Shannon seems to be doing well however it really is anyone’s race with George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Brad Pitt, Garey Oldman, Michael Fassbender, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Gosling and Woody Harrelson all turning in fantastic performances this year as well.

The Best Supporting categories seem a little more decided with Jessica Chastain and Christopher Plummer winning the majority of awards. Hopefully they will be able to continue that trend and win big at the Oscars come February.
