UPDATE: A new, corrected trailer has now been released and can be seen above.
Hold onto your butts, for the Graboids are back with a vengeance.
Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, the sixth installment in the cult horror-comedy series, has been pegged for a direct-to-video release on May 1st. And Universal and Entertainment Weekly have unearthed the first trailer to prove it.
Embedded above, this first-look promo is heavy on action and light on sound, as there appears to be no dialogue to speak of. EW’s post has since been pulled offline, so chances are the outlet will release a corrected version later in the day. We will, as always, update this post the moment a new trailer is available, but for now, let’s take a look at those cast members about to experience a cold day in Hell.
Front and center are Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy, who reprise their roles as Burt Gummer and Travis Welker, respectively, while there’s also room for franchise newcomers Tanya van Graan (Death Race: Inferno), Rob van Vuuren (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) and Greg Kriek (Momentum).
Directed by Don Michael Paul (Tremors 5: Bloodline), A Cold Day in Hell is in no way related to the mooted Tremors TV series, though at least based on the official synopsis, it promises to serve up another helping of horror-comedy hijinks:
Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!
Universal unearths Tremors: Cold Day in Hell on May 1st, and you’ll be able to go up close and personal with the official box art down below. Additionally, you can also pre-order it on Amazon to secure your copy.
