The symbiotic relationship between Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment continues to grow with the upcoming debut of the hotly anticipated teaser for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, set to play before Lionsgate’s equally anticipated release of The Hunger Games.
Twilight is a tested and lucrative property, and tracking has shown that The Hunger Games has the potential to stay in the black, so this is a strong result of their recent merger. Twilight will not have any trouble garnering box office gold regardless, but this nonetheless proves that the merger is a very real and further conveys the power the new combined studios can wield.
Truthfully, this is a ploy to reach a widespread audience but is also a bold statement to the other studios out there; Lionsgate can only hope that The Hunger Games performs as well as they expect
