It’s fair to say that Halloween‘s recent track record has left much to be desired – you know it, I know it, and frankly, writer-director David Gordon Green very much knows it, too.
For a while there, many believed the classic horror franchise was beyond saving, as the timeline had become too messy – too convoluted – to warrant another trip to Haddonfield. And yet, Blumhouse and Green found a workaround, resulting in the 2018 sequel that’s little under two months out from its theatrical debut.
That means Blumhouse currently has all hands at the pump in anticipation of October 19th, and one need only look to the numerous photo reveals of Michael Myers for evidence of the ongoing promotional push. But this latest tidbit isn’t so much concerned with The Shape as it is with Michael’s first victims.
They were originally uncovered from the new issue of Rue Morgue magazine (h/t Bloody Disgusting), and fair warning: they’re not for the faint of heart.
It seems the boogeyman has returned to Haddonfield. Indeed, if you lean close enough, you’ll notice that the small print makes note of the fact that Halloween features a series of “inventive kills,” with this one, in particular, resulting in a dead man’s body lying next to what appears to be a Myers-inspired pumpkin – replete with a set of eerie orange eyes.
The other photo is every bit as gruesome, as we see some poor, lifeless soul (a mechanic, it seems) slumped over his workshop tools. And lord only knows what methods Myers used before he ultimately brought down the axe.
Michael Myers officially returns to Haddonfield on October 19th, and the Halloween franchise will never be the same again.
