Ty Burrell Taking The Place Of Christoph Waltz In Muppets Sequel

Ty Burrell got his big break with the hit comedy series Modern Family. He'd acted in a substantial amount of movies before, but the show made him something of a household name, with his affable style of humor proving loveable for many. Another middled aged actor who got his big break in 2009 (albeit with a very different title) is Christoph Waltz. Waltz was previously set to star in the sequel to James Bobin's 2011 film The Muppets, but he has had to drop out due to other commitments. Burrell will replace Waltz, and is probably a more fitting choice for such a movie, although it would have been intriguing to see Waltz take on a direct comedy role given his obvious skills.

Another middled aged actor who got his big break in 2009 (albeit with a very different title) is Christoph Waltz. Waltz was previously set to star in the currently untitled sequel to James Bobin’s 2011 reboot of The Muppets, but he has had to drop out due to other commitments. Now, Burrell will replace Waltz, and is probably a more fitting choice for such a movie, although it would have been intriguing to see Waltz take on a direct comedy role given his obvious skills.

James Bobin will return to direct the sequel, which is set in Europe this time around. Nicholas Stoller and Bobin wrote the script but previous star Jason Segel will not be returning. Filming is set to get underway next month with a release date set for December 2013, with Disney presumably hoping to make it the definitive family film of next Christmas.

Stay tuned as we’ll keep you posted on more Muppets updates as they come in.
