Earlier this month, Justin Bieber posted a tweet challenging Tom Cruise to a fight in the UFC Octagon, saying: “Tom if you don’t take this fight your scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight?” Several weeks later, it’s still unclear exactly why the pop star wants to fight the Hollywood icon, but it seems like it could actually happen.
A few days ago we learned that Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun has been talking with the co-CEO of the company that owns UFC, Ari Emanuel, and UFC President Dana White. Both of them are apparently very excited for the brawl, with Emanuel saying that this “would be an epic fight that needs to happen” and White being “100% down with it.”
And though you can find just as many people on the internet who’d put their money on Cruise as those who’d bet on Bieber, one UFC star is making his pick pretty clear. Ben Askren recently commented on the sure to be epic fight and said that “Justin Bieber seems like a wimp.”
The top-ranked welterweight went on to reveal that his money’s obviously on the Top Gun star. “Like, Tom Cruise at least seems like he’s probably been through some sh*t,” said Askren. He’d even be down to train him, telling TMZ, “All I’d teach him is [the double leg takedown] and then beat his ass … little typewriter action on his face!”
Unfortunately, the 56-year-old Cruise still hasn’t officially responded to Bieber’s request, but sources close to the actor have said that he may very well take him up on the offer. Really, at this point it seems like it’s just a matter of ironing out all the details and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if UFC announces their next big fight as Tom Cruise vs. Justin Bieber.
