According to Tom Hardy, a new Venom trailer is coming to CinemaCon next week. Let's just hope it gives us a look at the titular symbiote this time.

You know what that first Venom trailer was missing? VENOM!

In what was absolutely a boneheaded move from Sony Pictures, our introduction to their fresh take on the superhero decided to skip over what he actually looks like. You could argue that this omission was intentional in order to preserve the surprise for the movie (or perhaps the effects weren’t quite finished), but intentional or not, given the backlash against the teaser, it might have been worth their while to wait until they could’ve shown us a bit more.

You can’t turn back time though and it is what it is, and now we’ll just have to hope that the next trailer does a bit of a better job getting people hyped up for Venom, which hits theaters this October. Thankfully, we’ll get the chance to see if that’s the case next week, as Tom Hardy has now confirmed that a new preview is right around the corner.

From what we understand, it’ll debut at CinemaCon, which takes place from April 23rd to 26th. As for a more specific date/time, the trailer will be shown during Sony’s panel, which is set to go down on Monday night from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Presumably, it’ll be online shortly after that, and we’ll have it here for you the moment it’s available.

As for what it’ll show, that obviously remains unknown, but we remain hopeful that it’ll be able to get people back on board with the pic. Because with Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson (Solo: A Star Wars Story) all involved, we have reason to believe that Venom will be able to live up to those sky-high expectations come October. Which is all the more impressive when you consider that an Eddie Brock solo movie has been languishing on the brink of development since as far back as 2007, when Topher Grace wrestled the sinister symbiote. But there’s a new Eddie in town, and Tom Hardy is about to bring his A game.

Venom officially makes a beeline for theaters on October 5th.
