Saw VIII Is Now In Development, Even Though No On Asked For It

Though when it began it was one of the most exciting horror franchises around, Saw quickly became a bit of a joke with each passing instalment. The first two or three were great, but eventually the sequels just became recycled outings that were clearly only in existence to cash in on the brand recognition that the series carried thanks to an excellent first instalment.

Though when it began it was one of the most exciting horror franchises around, Saw quickly became a bit of a joke with each passing instalment. The first two or three were great, but eventually the sequels just became recycled outings that were clearly only in existence to cash in on the strong brand recognition that the series carried thanks to an excellent first instalment.

Finally, in 2010, after seven movies, Lionsgate drew the franchise to a close. But of course, nothing ever truly stays dead for long in the horror genre, and now it appears as if we’re getting a Saw VIII. The title is currently Saw: Legacy and Piranha writers Josh Stolberg (who will also direct) and Peter Goldfinger have been assigned scripting duties.

No word yet on where the film may pick up in terms of plot, or whether it’s a prequel, direct sequel, reboot, etc. All we know is that we’re getting another Saw movie. And, of course, we’re pretty positive that there will be blood. Lots of it.

Tell us, have you had it with the Saw franchise yet? Or are you excited about another outing? Sound off below and let us know.
