Vin Diesel Teases Kojak, XXX 3, And The Last Witch Hunter With Michael Caine

Vin Diesel might not always make the best movies in the world, but he's always very passionate and excited about the movies he does make. He managed to get Riddick made, of course, and he's been teasing projects one after the other for quite some time. Now, he's got a series of movies lined up, the first of which has just added none other than Michael Caine to the cast.

Vin Diesel might not always make the best movies in the world, but he’s always very passionate and excited about the movies he does make. He managed to get Riddick made, of course, and he’s been teasing projects one after the other for quite some time. Now, he’s got a series of movies lined up, the first of which has just added none other than Michael Caine to the cast.

In speaking with Collider about his role in Guardians of the Galaxy, Diesel also touched upon his upcoming projects. The next will be The Last Witch Hunter, which will feature the actor as a “700-year-old New Yorker.” He also seems very excited about getting to work with Michael Caine:

Working opposite Michael Caine will be a blast. I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Caine so it’ll be the first time I get to work with Michael Caine.

Following The Last Witch Hunter, Diesel will take on the part of the titular detective Kojak, originated on the small screen by Telly Savalas. Then it’s on to xXx 3, which Diesel says will be filming in the Philippines. That one’s a bit surprising, actually, as we’ve only heard a rumor or two about the potentials for another entry into the xXx franchise. Diesel only appeared in the first film, giving up starring duties to Ice Cube in xXx2: State of the Union.

Last but not least, Vin Diesel is also working on his passion project: a biopic of Hannibal, but not the one that eats people. He’s hoping to make a trilogy about the famous Carthaginian military commander:

And of course, the trilogy of Hannibal, the thing I’m most precious about and the thing that keeps me—it was just my birthday a couple of days ago and I woke up and I started to count my blessings, as we all do on our birthday, we count our blessing and then we think ‘How can I grow as a person, and how can I improve?’  And then I immediately went to, ‘I haven’t made yet.’

So those are all the projects that Vin Diesel has lined up right now, and they should keep him very busy. I always enjoy Vin Diesel in pretty much anything he does, regardless of the quality, but I’ll be particularly pleased to see him in Kojak. That role just seems perfect for him. As for the rest, we’ll have to wait and see what comes of them. It’s sure to be an interesting time.

Vin Diesel can next be heard, if not seen, in Guardians of the Galaxy, which drops on August 1.
