Vision And Scarlet Witch Are “Very Much In Love” In Avengers: Infinity War

While the MCU has frequently done its own thing when it comes to the love lives of the Avengers (*cough* Brutasha *cough*), one romance that will be retained from the comics is that between Scarlet Witch and Vision. Though fans might have expected a love story between a super-sorceress and an android to be too weird for general audiences, it turns out that Avengers: Infinity War will definitely explore this relationship.

While the MCU has frequently done its own thing when it comes to the love lives of the Avengers (*cough* Brutasha *cough*), one romance that will be retained from the comics is that between Scarlet Witch and Vision. Fans might have expected a love story between a super-sorceress and an android to be too weird for general audiences, but it turns out that Avengers: Infinity War will definitely explore this relationship.

ComicBook.com caught up with Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen during a set visit last year and the stars confirmed that their characters’ feelings for each other have progressed a lot since we last saw them in Captain America: Civil War. In fact, they went so far as to say the couple are head over heels in love.

“They’re very much in love at this point,” Bettany teased.

“Soulmates,” continued Olsen.

Bettany thinks that Vision is in the process of learning about what it means to be human, and falling for Wanda is a big part of that. “I think that Vision’s been on this quest to understand what being human is and I think Scarlet Witch [has] in a large degree helped him figure that out and what love is,” he added, before feeling the need to belt out a love ballad: “I wanna know what love is!”

Going into Infinity War, many fans expect some of their favourite characters to get shortchanged, simply because of the mammoth size of the cast. We don’t have that to fear about Wanda and Vision, however, as Olsen has promised that the film contains the “most emotional arc” she’s got to grips with so far in the MCU.

“I think in a different way not so much about the last movie and their own sagas, but this is definitely the most emotional arc I’ve done in an Avenger film, that’s for sure. Because when we’re talking about Vision becoming human, we’re talking about their relationship and it’s a pretty grounded arc.”

Bettany then went on to talk about how the scale in Infinity War is bigger than we’ve ever seen in the franchise, which could be a contributing factor to what brings the couple together. After all, the duo fought on opposite sides in Civil War, but this seems to be all forgotten now that the whole universe is in danger.

“And significant. Yeah, I think it is the most emotional. Also, the cost and the danger that we’re all facing becomes more important than certain beef that people had in the past because it’s so desperate. The point of the Avengers, and by extension mankind, it’s fraught with danger. So I think old grudges are buried and put off until next time.”

Tragically, this love story might be brought to a premature end if Thanos gets his hands on the Mind Stone that resides in Vision’s head, so we’ll just have to wait and see if this romance stands the test of time when Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas on April 27th.
