You read that right. Moviehole reports that the newest directors in talks for the upcoming Justice League film are Matrix visionaries Lana and Andy Wachowski.
The first director we heard Warner Bros. was shopping the film to was Ben Affleck, but mere hours later we heard that it likely wasn’t going to happen. Now, the studio is looking to the siblings to take over the reigns.
The Wachowskis are an intriguing choice for this film. They have already provided Warner with one of its most successful trilogies of all time in The Matrix and are responsible for one of the finest graphic novel to film adaptations in V For Vendetta. However, they also did ruin one of the best kid’s shows ever with 2008’s Speed Racer.
They’re not my first choice for the film, but I also wouldn’t say I’m opposed. The Justice League movie will have to be innovative and very deep on character development to have any chance of competing with The Avengers and to step out of the gigantic shadow of The Dark Knight Trilogy.
Personally, I think the Wachowskis could bring that to the film. That being said, I’m not sure if their style of wanting to do things their way and working at their own speed will be the best fit for a film this huge.
What do you think of the Wachowskis directing the Justice League? Sound off in the comments below.
