Warner Bros. Rumored To Be Considering A Harley Quinn Trilogy

It’s been a good long while since we last heard news about the planned Gotham City Sirens movie, and as with so many previously announced DCEU projects, many of us were starting to have our doubts that the film would ever see the light of day. It’s been a good long while since we last heard news about the planned Gotham City Sirens movie, and as with so many previously announced DCEU projects, many of us were starting to have our doubts that the film would ever see the light of day. Nonetheless, a new report from Geeks WorldWide alleges that not only does Warner Bros. still intend to push forward with the project, but that they’re even building up to a crossover with Birds of Prey, putting one Harley Quinn at the forefront of this saga.

The rumor goes that Warner is pursuing a trilogy of Harley films, that starts off with Cathy Yan’s upcoming release, followed by Gotham City Sirens, and concluding with something they refer to as “Birds of Prey v Gotham City Sirens,” with Harley serving as “the bridge connecting these two teams.”

The report also stresses that this plan is subject to change – with the reception to Birds of Prey likely being the key – but it’s said that this trilogy is at least “the current course of action over at the studio.” As well as claiming to have their own sources on this rumor, the piece also links to a Patreon post from DanielRPK indicating that the popular leaker has heard the same intel.

Naturally, this should all be taken with the usual pinch of salt, but at the very least, Warner is probably well aware that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is a character with real commercial potential, and going by recent statements from Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson, the character’s role in next year’s release can certainly be interpreted as an attempt to establish her as an interesting antihero in her own right, beyond her connections to the Joker.

In any case, we’ll find out if Birds of Prey leaves its audience wanting more from the Clown Princess of Crime when the film hits theaters on February 7th, 2020.
