Watch Jake Gyllenhaal Interrogate Paul Dano In Intense Clip From Prisoners

Only a few dramas releasing this fall have a more stacked cast than Prisoners, a searingly intense drama about how the families of two missing girls respond when the case against their suspected abductor hits a dead end. The film stars a group of hugely respected actors and actresses including (deep breath) Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano.

Now, we’ve got a new look at Prisoners, courtesy of MTV. The clip shows Gyllenhaal’s brash young Detective Loki doing his best to frighten a confession out of the eerily silent lead suspect Alex Jones (Dano) after apprehending him during a downpour.

You can check out the tense excerpt below:

To me, this film looks better with every piece of footage I see from it. Though everyone involved in the project looks to be at the top of their game, Jackman looks like the best of the bunch as a devastated father who comes close to losing his sanity as he takes the law into his own hands by kidnapping Dano’s character after the case against him stagnates.

Director Denis Villeneuve has his work cut out for him with such a talented cast. The Incendies filmmaker has already proved that he can maintain tension and get terrific performances out of his actors, and with a Black List script by Aaron Guzikowski, there’s every indication that Prisoners will be an absolute must-see.

Are you a fan of high-stakes, higher-tension films like Prisoners? If you’re going to see the film, which actor’s performance are you most excited to see? Let me know in the comments section.

Prisoners will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th, and will then open wide in theaters on September 20th.
