Nevermind The Lone Ranger – the marketing wheels have begun to turn over at Disney, this time on an almost sure-fire blockbuster as the first teaser trailer for Muppets Most Wanted has hit the web today.

In case you missed it, Muppets Most Wanted is the sequel to The Muppets, which made such a big splash long long ago in 2011. This one will not feature Jason Segal and Amy Adams, though. There’s a whole new host of celebrity cameos, including Tina Fey, Ty Burrell, Tom Hiddleston, Sean Combs and Ricky Gervais, among many others.

Muppets Most Wanted will follow the Muppets on a global tour, where they become embroiled in a crime headed by Constantine, a Number One World Criminal and Kermit look-alike, and his partner Dominic (Ricky Gervais). I think we can guess what happens from there, what with mistaken identities and the opportunities for Muppet shenanigans and musical numbers. James Bobin returns to direct, Nicolas Stoller to script, and we know that Bret McKenzie has his hand in the score.

While the plot sounds awfully close to some of the details from both The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Great Muppet Caper, this teaser puts at least some of my fears to bed. The trailer is perfectly entertaining, though it doesn’t give us much in the way of plot. The Muppets are back in force, and there looks to be all sorts of craziness, including Ty Burrell in a silly mustache as an Interpol agent and Tiny Fey as a Russian prison guard. Most importantly, though, there are the Muppets. All of our favorites are back, naturally, from Fozzie and Kermit to Gonzo and (my personal favorite) Animal. My one problem with the last film was too many humans, not enough Muppets. Maybe this one will help to rectify that issue.

Muppets Most Wanted hits theatres March 21, 1014. You can check out the teaser trailer below, along with a few new pictures from the film. Cool?
