Watch Nicolas Cage And John Cusack In The Frozen Ground Trailer

For New Zealand director Scott Walker, the chance to work on The Frozen Ground with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack was probably the stuff of which dreams are made. For New Zealand director Scott Walker, the chance to work on The Frozen Ground with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack was probably the stuff of which dreams are made. Walker’s only other entry on his resume prior was a short. Now he’s got a lot of room to expand in this serial killer thriller, which shows off its cast in this latest trailer.

The two acting vets lead this tale of a multiple murderer in Alaska with a penchant for ladies of the night (see: prostitutes). When one of the killer’s would-be victims (Vanessa Hudgens) escapes from his clutches, she turns to the State Trooper in charge (Cage) for help. With Cusack cast as a potential suspect, there are a few scenes in the trailer that’ll make the film worthwhile: Cage and Cusack in an interview room, Cage shouting, Cusack looking shifty.

Both veterans have more acting talent than their recent career choices would have you believe. They’ve both succumbed to starring in less than exciting fare as of late and though The Frozen Ground doesn’t look set to smash through any boundaries, it still has plenty to offer. Let’s hope it doesn’t tread where thousands of other killer-thrillers have before.

Check out the plot summary below:

Alaskan State Trooper Jack Halcombe sets out to end the murderous rampage of Robert Hansen, a serial killer who has gone unnoticed for 13 years. As the bodies of street girls start to pile up in Anchorage, fear strikes a chord with the public. Risking his life, Halcombe goes on a personal manhunt to find the killer before the next body surfaces. When a seventeen year old escapee reveals key information about the case, Halcombe is finally on the trail of the killer. But will he catch him in time to save the next victim?

The Frozen Ground opens in the UK on July 19th and in the US on August 23rd.
