The build-up to the release of Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake has reached maximum capacity, and not a moment too soon, as the film is about to hit theaters.

So far, the marketing campaign for this one has been pretty interesting. First, we were encouraged to purchase some dim sum in one slightly bizarre promotion and now, we can learn how to work off all that dim sum we’ve been eating, Oldboy-style. In this latest NSFW preview for the film, Joe Doucette (Josh Brolin) keeps himself fit the only way he can.

The clip features a weighty Doucette working off those isolation-tank pounds via a 1980s aerobic show. We also get to see the aftermath of his training in some fast clips of Doucette beating the hell out of henchmen, and rolling around naked with his female helper. This might be nothing more than a slightly explicit taste of what we can expect from Lee’s remake of Chan-wook Park’s 2003 thriller, but it’s a tantalizing look nonetheless.

There are always a number of concerns raised when a good film is remade. I certainly have a few questions about how some elements of the original film will be handled; those that have seen it will know what I’m talking about. Lee does not appear to be skimping on the blood, sex and violence – and why would he? – so we can hope that other elements that made the original so disturbing will remain intact. Time of course shall tell, and like Joe Doucette we must wait to discover the solution to the mystery.

We do not have long to way, though, with Oldboy all set to come to theatres on November 27. Until then you can watch the latest NSFW clip below and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Does it look like Spike Lee is doing justice to the original? More importantly, will Oldboy be a good film in its own right?
