Wesley Snipes Headed To Jail

This is something that just irritates the hell out of me. Wesley Snipes was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willfully failing to file federal tax returns. Now, a federal judge has rejected Wesley Snipes' request for a new trial. The Judge has also ordered the star of Blade to report to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin his 36 month sentence for tax related crimes.

This is something that just irritates the hell out of me. Wesley Snipes was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willfully failing to file federal tax returns. Now, a federal judge has rejected Wesley Snipes’ request for a new trial. The Judge has also ordered the star of Blade to report to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin his 36 month sentence for tax related crimes.

U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges had this to say…

“The Defendant Snipes had a fair trial; he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his conviction and sentence by the Court of Appeals; and he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his present claims, during all of which he has remained at liberty. The time has come for the judgment to be enforced.”

Daniel Meachum Snipes’ Atlanta based lawyer added…

“It is just shocking. Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive.”

“We were hopeful that we had convinced Judge Hodges that the government’s witness, Ken Starr, had perjured himself and that the government knew of his criminal activities and the predetermined minds of three jurors, but we obviously fell short in accomplishing that.”

Yeah, I get it, he broke the law and I’m just like anyone else who’s tired of all these stars getting off on light sentences but come on, Lindsey Lohan (found with drugs, hit and run, didn’t even bother showing up for court one time) and Paris Hilton are still walking the streets and this is who they toss in jail for three years? Just sucks, Wesley could have pulled himself out direct-to-DVD hell he was thrown in a few years ago, but now…who knows?
