You don’t have to say anything. We already know. You woke up in a cold sweat last night, terrified that you had missed LEGO’s newest masterpiece. Never fear, Batman is here. LEGO has just unveiled their latest creation; the Batcave Shadow Box. If you needed a reminder of which Batman we’re talking about (there’s a ton these days), take a look at The Flash trailer below.
Sure, Ben Affleck’s Batman may be making an appearance, but the real star of the show is Michael Keaton. Hype surrounding the return of Michael Keaton’s Tim Burton Batman could not be higher. Iconic, intimidating, and entirely unique — Keaton’s turn as the Caped Crusader laid the foundation for superhero storytelling, and imbued Batman with a sense of style not seen again until Matt Reeves’ The Batman. We love you Chris Nolan, but your Gotham city lacked a little personality. Still, The Dark Knight is a true-blue masterpiece, so let’s all agree to disagree before things get ugly.
As The Flash and its’ June 16 opening speed ever closer, LEGO seems to be capitalizing on that mounting nostalgia with the release of their Batcave Shadow Box. Coming in at whopping 3981 pieces, this one of a kind piece of buildable art recreates the Batcave from 1992’s Batman Returns. It has a changeable computer screen, rotating chairs, and a Batsuit display. We’re in love. Seriously, our inner child is absolutely losing it right now.
Complete with all sorts of bat-themed gadgetry, diorama doors, and a drawbridge (did we mention it has a realistic Batmobile) — there’s no telling what sort of antics you’ll get into while putting together this behemoth. Oh, and it houses licensed figures too, including: Max Shreck, The Penguin, Catwoman, two versions of Batman, Alfred Pennyworth, and Bruce Wayne.
Where to buy the LEGO Batcave Shadow Box
So where the heck can you buy one of these puppies? The Batcave Shadow Box will be made available to LEGO VIPs on June 4/5 at 9pm PT/ 12am ET on their website, with a general release scheduled for June 8. Coming out more than a week before The Flash hits theaters, LEGO seems to know exactly what they’re doing. And, if buying things isn’t your thing, no problem. You’ll be able to find this conversation piece at official LEGO stores worldwide, as well as a few select retailers near you — so keep your eyes peeled. Stay vigilant. After all, it’s what Batman would want.
