Who is Blurp in Marvel? The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ character, explained

Apparently, F'saki come in all different breeds.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months, there’s a good chance that you’ve seen all the promotional material for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the final send-off for the Guardians in the MCU. There’s also a high possibility that in Vol. 3‘s final trailer, you spotted a furry creature of unknown origins. Resembling a shaggy canine, the extraterrestrial being can be seen bounding towards the camera or nestled in Gamora’s arms while she and Peter share an intimate locking of the gaze up-close. From what we’ve seen, the creature appears to have razor-sharp teeth, four ears (two on each side) and an oddly-shaped face. Its body is covered in brown fur and needless to say, it’s adorable.

From what the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fan-made wikipedia can tell us, the creature’s name is Blurp — as if names for various characters in the MCU couldn’t get any sillier. There is extremely limited information on Blurp, but from what we do know, he’s male. Blurp is a variant of the species known as F’saki, which are small reptilian carnivores. You might recall seeing a F’saki in the scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where Baby Groot is forced into a tabletop deathmatch by a whole horde of onlooking betters. The bar is called Boot of Jemiah, located on Knowhere, wherein we see a F’saki devour numerous Orlonis (you’ll recall these as the small rat-like creature that Starlord uses as a microphone in the original Guardians of the Galaxy).

The F’saki fighting Groot is hairless and literally resembles some kind of lizard, whereas Blurp is covered in fur, thereby proving that F’saki come in all shapes and sizes. According to the wiki, Blurp is the pet of the Ravagers, the intergalactic criminal syndicate which Yondu and Peter were a part of. Presumably, the Guardians find Blurp after the Ravagers are targeted by the enemy, choosing to take the F’saki under their wing and keep him as their own pet of sorts.

We’ll see Blurp and all the Guardians in action when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hyper-speeds into theaters on May 5, 2023.
