Why ‘Loki’ season 2 could hold the key to setting up ‘Deadpool 3’ in the MCU

For a hint at what's to come in the MCU, look to the comics.

Loki season two and Deadpool 3 may have an interconnected plotline if a fan theory pans out to be true. What’s more, it would be a storyline ripped straight from the comics.

With season two of Loki scheduled to hit Disney Plus on October 6 and a Deadpool threequel already in the works for 2024, it would only make sense to plant the seeds of the forthcoming movie ahead of time. Especially when you consider the main organization that is the central focus of Loki, the Time Variance Authority, has a strong connection to Wade Wilson in the comics.

As a fan pointed out on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit, the character Loop in the comics is a TVA hitman who also happens to be a variant of the Merc with the Mouth.

Even though this fan theory is merely speculation for now, it would dovetail nicely with the rumor that Deadpool 3 will feature multiple variants of the character portrayed by Ryan Reynolds.

Overall, the rumor about Deadpool 3 involving the multiverse in some way would probably be convenient for the purpose of Disney reconciling the X-Men characters it inherited from 20th Century Fox. And it could explain how they justify bringing back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, a character that is 100% confirmed to be in the movie, despite Logan providing a memorable sendoff for the character. While it’s true that Logan takes place in the future, we imagine the role will eventually be recast in the MCU at any rate.
