With awards season due to kick off in earnest very soon, all eyes are on the DCEU flick to pick up some shiny statues as one of the most highly regarded films in the superhero genre. However, it’s got some tough competition in its PGA category, going up against The Big Sick, Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, I, Tonya, Lady Bird, Molly’s Game, The Post, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.

Cards on the table here – I have absolutely no idea how you quantify best producing in an awards show. Is it that the films had a straight forward, trouble-free development with relatively little creative interference, or does it simply indicate how much time and money they funneled into the projects? Oh well, I guess if anyone knows the answer it’s the Producers Guild.

As far as Wonder Woman goes, word is that in the wake of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad‘s critical evisceration, producers mandated that Patty Jenkins tweak the plot and reshoot various sequences. Given that the finished product kicks so much ass (and is the best film in the DCEU by a country mile), I’d say their advice was on the money.

And as for Wonder Woman‘s Oscar hopes? Well, in a year marred by multiple allegations of horrific behavior by those in Hollywood, let’s just say it’d be nice to see them give a nod to a film featuring an invincible superwoman who doesn’t take shit from anyone. Wouldn’t you say?
