Well it’s been 24 hours without any casting news for The Hunger Games so I guess we were due for some. Looks like Vulture has stepped up to the plate to bring us the latest in what seems like never ending casting news for the film. Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz have all been sent offers for the film but only Harrelson’s role is known. He is being sought for the Head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane. The film is aiming for a March 23, 2012 release date so you can expect the final cast to be in place pretty soon.
We already have a strong cast with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson leading and Paula Malcomson and Elizabeth Banks supporting, among others. John C. Reilly is rumored for the film but it’s not confirmed yet. If Harrelson, Tucci and Kravitz join, we’ll have quite the cast.
As of now only offers are out, nothing is confirmed. But we’ll keep you posted when we hear more. If you’re unfamiliar with the novel that the film is based off of, check out the plot summary below.
“Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, “The Hunger Games.” The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat’s sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.”
