Worshipped as the first mutant, the mere mention of En Sabah Nur is enough to send a shudder down anyone’s spine – and for good reason. Aiming to ‘cleanse’ the world of man and mutantkind alike before attempting to rebuild our planet as he sees fit, Apocalypse’s mission – one that evokes Old Testament levels of chaos and destruction – begins with the recruitment of the all-powerful Four Horsemen.

Played here by Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Olivia Munn (Psylocke), Alexandra Shipp (a decidedly different Storm) and Ben Hardy (Angel/Archangel), Oscar Isaac’s soldiers will be imbued with a special aura of power later this month, and Professor X and his ring of students face a tall order if they really are to fend off total annihilation.

Alongside Isaac and his Four Horsemen are James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Nicholas Hoult as Beast.
