Though Deadpool 2 may still be in theaters and the home video release has yet to even arrive, that hasn’t stopped many of us from pondering the future, particularly when it comes to X-Force.
Having already introduced the concept to moviegoers via the Merc with a Mouth’s aforementioned sequel, Fox has managed to establish Cable and Domino as being the core of the team alongside Wade Wilson. Naturally, this means the casting department ultimately hired to fill out X-Force‘s ranks have their work more than cut out for them, but thankfully, there’s much source material to pull from.
Aside from which characters will put in appearances, a release date is something else True Believers would like to hear at some point. Unfortunately, one doesn’t exist at the moment, but director Drew Goddard had this to offer while recently speaking with Cinema Blend:
“It’s a good question. I’ve learned I’m very much a one-movie-at-a-time kind of guy, and they all know. It’s the same studio, which is nice, so they can say, ‘Okay, get [Bad Times At The El Royale] done,’ and then once I get this movie done and get this into theaters we’ll turn our attention that way.”
Well, as it turns out, Bad Times at the El Royale is slated to arrive in theaters on October 5th of this year, so don’t expect for Goddard’s hands to be tied for much longer. Though it’s very possible he’ll take a brief vacation in between projects, production should no doubt ramp up in 2019.
Circling back to the above quote, it’s good to see the studio allowing Drew to take his time with each movie, but we imagine that X-Force is a priority for Fox, so it’s expected they’ll require results before long. Right now, Deadpool is a very hot commodity, and it should make no difference whether he show up next in a solo or team-up flick.
