Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has joined the ensemble of Vin Diesel’s xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, The Wrap has learned.
Starring alongside the likes of Orange is the New Black‘s Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev and Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, it’s understood Gutierrez has boarded the action sequel as one love interest to Xander Cage, Diesel’s hardboiled sports extremist that is on course to whip up a storm in early 2017.
Left on the sidelines while rapper-cum-actor Ice Cube headlined the series in State of the Union, The Return of Xander Cage is all about Vin Diesel’s renegade reprising his role as a government agent, sent off on a mission to track the deadly Xiang and a mysterious weapon known only as Pandora’s Box. Could it be an evolution of the chemical weapon glimpsed in the original film? Or something new entirely?
Circling back to Gutierrez, though, and the supermodel is a late addition to the cast given that production is already well underway. Gearing up for a globe-trotting thriller, Vin Diesel has remained a vocal source of set photos throughout the early days, and we imagine that’ll continue long until the film’s arrival on January 20, 2017.
Also among the ensemble for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage are Toni Collette, the returning Samuel L. Jackson, Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen (in place of Jet Li), Conor McGregor and Andrey Ivchenko as the film’s big bad.
