Yahoo! Reveals New Looks At The Mummy, Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, Alien: Covenant And More

Ah yes, the summer movie season. It's a time when every studio pushes out their blockbusters, tentpoles, sequels, franchise starters, etc. For several months straight, we see one juggernaut film after another hit theatres, with each one hoping to capitalize on what's traditionally known as the most lucrative period of the year at the box office. While not every release will be a hit, each summer usually brings with it a few can't miss movies and 2017 is no different.

Ah yes, the summer movie season. It’s a time when every studio pushes out their blockbusters, tentpoles, sequels, franchise starters, etc. For several months straight, we see one juggernaut film after another hit theatres, with each one hoping to capitalize on what’s traditionally known as the most lucrative period of the year at the box office. While not every release will be a hit, each summer usually brings with it a few can’t miss movies and 2017 is no different.

Of course, we don’t have a crystal ball in front of us and as such, can’t say with absolute certainty that everything coming down the pipeline is going to be a hit, but films like Alien: Covenant, The Mummy, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword definitely look promising. Furthermore, it seems like, as is often the case, there will be a little something for everyone this summer.

If those aforementioned flicks don’t sound like they’d be up your alley, then you could always try more family-oriented fare like Despicable Me 3 or Cars 3. Or how about a return to the high seas with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales? Wherever your interests may lie, Yahoo! has you covered, as the outlet’s released their summer movie preview today, bringing us new looks at all of the aforementioned movies and more.

There’s nothing particularly revealing in any of the photos, which you can check out in the gallery above, but it’s nice to get another glimpse of some of this summer’s heaviest hitters and with everything about to kick off next week as we head into May, it’s as good a time as any to get acquainted with what’s on the way over the next few months.

So, take a look through the photos up above and be sure to drop us a comment letting us know which film you’re looking forward to most. Our pick? Alien: Covenant. We can’t wait to see what Ridley’s cooked up for the next chapter in his sci-fi saga.
