Zack Snyder Addresses Claims That Batman V Superman’s Latest Trailer Spoiled The Movie

Ever since the first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, fans have been complaining that it revealed far too much. From that money shot of the Trinity to Doomsday, it really did feel as if the preview spelled out the entire plot of the movie, but director Zack Snyder has now explained that there's much more to it than what we saw there.

Ever since the first trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, fans have been complaining that it revealed far too much. From that money shot of the Trinity to big bad Doomsday, it really did feel as if the preview spelled out the entire plot of the movie, but director Zack Snyder has now explained that there’s much more to it than what we saw there.

“I have the benefit of seeing the movie. It’s cool that they think it’s too much and I appreciate people not wanting to know, but there’s plenty that they don’t know. There’s a lot of movie that’s not in the trailer.”

That’s a fair point, but it’s hard to imagine how many surprises Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice can possibly have left, especially as the past few years have seen almost countless rumours about the movie doing the rounds.

Do the possible spoilers which have been circulating bother the filmmaker at all? His answer is an obvious one, but also seems to confirm that at least some of them are true:

“Of course I hate it when any spoilers come out! You design the movie as a story that evolves as you watch it, so moment-to-moment [you’re thinking], ‘Oh my god, what’s going to happen next? Are they gonna live? Are they gonna die?’ So you want that experience for the audience, as much as you can. If you’re, as an audience member, exploring these articles, looking for answers to questions that you have, maybe you’re okay with knowing before you go. It’s like an individual taste. But like I said, I want people to see the movie without knowing.”

Finally, Snyder was quizzed specifically on Jesse Eisenberg’s divisive take on Lex Luthor, something which has been a huge talking point ever since that trailer was released.

“In the trailer, of course he comes across in a very specific way. In the movie, he’s like a million times more sophisticated than what you get in 30 seconds. But that’s also the fun of it. That’s why you go to the movies, so you can actually see the context and understand the depth.”

It almost sounds like the negative rumblings about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice are getting to Snyder a bit, but that’s understandable, especially when no one has seen the movie as of yet. We’ll just have to wait and see whether or not it lives us to expectations, but feel free to share your thoughts on Snyder’s comments down below.
