Ok folks, let’s just calm down now and recap what just happened. Zack Snyder has officially confirmed that he will direct a team up film for Batman and Superman, which was rumored earlier today. Production will begin in 2014 and the film is expected to hit in 2015.

Check out Snyder’s official announcement below:

It’s official that we are going to make another Superman movie. And you say, Zack, what is the movie about? But you don’t want me to tell you that. You want to go and see the movie. But I can say that maybe there’s a single element that will be in the film that I could… help you out with. I was thinking about how to do that. I pored through the DC Universe to look for a way to tell this thing. We’re writing the thing now, but I came across a thing I found that’ll help you understand it.

What happened next was actor Harry Lennix read the following line from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:

“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember your hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

To clarify, Snyder stated the the Batman/Superman team up film will not be an adaptation of Miller’s comic book. Instead, The Dark Knight Returns will “help him” tell the story, whatever that means.

Unfortunately, we have no news on casting or even a title for the project (though Batman vs. Superman is what the bloggers seem to be calling it). All we know is that the film will feature Batman and Superman, it will be a sequel to Man of Steel and Henry Cavill, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams and Diane Lane are expected to return.

Here’s the official press release from WB:
